Another great story from Ellen O'Connell. I just wish she would get a better editor and cover art.
For those reasons, I would rather give this book a 4 1/2 star rating, but the story was just so enjoyable. What I love, is that there isn't all that fluff and sugar that I just can't stand. She gets real with her writing. For example, the first time Matt and Sarah make love, Sarah seduced Matt, and Sarah did not enjoy it. She was a virgin and he has one short fast experience with a prostitute so neither knew what they were doing. It hurt her and he was upset that she was bleeding from it. It was also cute that he did not know anything about a woman's "monthlies" He was dumbstruck when he found out that women went through this, and Sarah had to explain the whole cycle and the why's to him.
This couple went through so much, you just wanted to jump in the story and fix everything for them. The love they felt for each other came across very strongly in the story and did not feel forced at all. The only real issues I had with the story, were that Matt had too many very violent things happen to him, and his constant pushing Sarah away because he felt he was not good enough for her. During one of the violent acts against Matt, he was horribly scarred on his face resulting in an eye patch. But you just could not help but love Matt and Sarah ~sigh~
At the end of the book, the author states that if you go to her website, there is an afterward where they run into Macauley... I read it and would recommend anyone who reads this book to check it out. It was very satisfying!
