Romancing the Novel

While I am an avid reader, I primarily stick to romances. I would say that my favorites are historical romances, but I love romance novels in every category.

3 1/2 stars for me. There were things about this book I loved and some things, not so much. It felt like it was about 100 pages too long. There were just a bunch of small things that just were unnecessary to the plot or story. It felt like a lot of patchwork. What was the point of the family she came to this area to be a governess to? I thought there would be some drama over that at least. And her grandfather? We finally get to meet him, she had never met him before... and nothing. huh? I was expecting SOMETHING with that.
The book had a fantastic start to it. I LOVED Devil, loved how he made up his mind about Honoria as his future wife while only knowing her about 5 minutes. The mystery was interesting at first but kept switching to their relationship as if we forgot something else was going on. I didn't the story on how Devil's brother was brought into the family, it just was too contrived to fit the book rather than fit the image of the family. The entire middle of the book was just flat. The love scenes were great, but that was the only thing that held the middle of the book together.
It got interesting again at the end even though Honoria had many TSTL moments. I will probably read the next book just to see if all the books are like this one, or get better for me.
