Romancing the Novel

While I am an avid reader, I primarily stick to romances. I would say that my favorites are historical romances, but I love romance novels in every category.

Currently reading

Through the Smoke
Brenda Novak
How To Tame Your Duke
Juliana Gray
Darkfever - Karen Marie Moning This book was not what I expected at all! First, I am a romance junkie and the cover led me to believe there would be some type of romance in this story. There was none at all, some minor attraction that Mac had for Barrons, but very minor.
I hated KMM's Beyond the Highland Mist So I assumed I would not like this either. ( As Jericho Barrons would say, "But if there's one thing I've learned in life it's this: assume makes an ass out of 'u' and 'me.' ")
As much as I loved this story, I did not like the h or H at all. Actually, I don't think I met anyone in this book that I liked at all. Mac did eventually grow on me, she went from head in the clouds, clueless, TSTL southern southern girl to a kick ass vengeful all out heroine!
Barrons, although smooth, good looking, rich and intelligent, has not really won me over yet. Cold, he is very very cold...brrr.. He does remind me of Bastien Toussaint in Anne Stuart's Black Ice Ok he did save Mac, and warmed up a tad in the end, but I am not sure of his reasons behind the actions. KMM has not clued us in as to who the good guys are at all. We are left at the end of this book still wondering who Mac can trust.
V'lane might be a good guy, but that is doubtful. I am looking forward to finding out more about him, interesting indeed! Holy sexual attraction! Imagine peeling off your clothes without realizing you are actually doing it in the middle of a crowded museum just by looking at a guy!
This book was a very quick read and a real page turner. No skimming with this one! I can't wait to start on the next one!
